“ETO” is the first new single from Adwaith since last year’s “Yn Y Sŵn (Nijo)” with Massimo Silverio, and arrives with news of their second album Bato Mato.

Adwaith say of the track, “We really wanted to write a heartfelt song about being infatuated with someone. This isn’t something we normally write about and we wanted to approach this song differently to our other ones. We felt inspired to write a big pop song.”

Bato Mato is inspired by the band’s trip to Siberia, and shares its name with their guide Bato Mato. It’ll follow their 2018 debut album Melyn, which won the 2019 Welsh Music Prize.

Bassist Gwenllian Anthony explains, “It was a life changing trip that really inspired us to write this album. The barren landscape and brutalist architecture really seeped into these songs and the use of world instruments was heavily inspired by this journey.”

Lead vocalist Hollie Singer adds, “Our journey through the Siberian and Mongolian wilderness influenced the writing and sound of the album to be as open and big as the limitless sky around us there.”

Bato Mato was largely recorded at Giant Wafer studios in Llandrindod Wells, and saw them reunite with Melyn producer Steffan Pringle (Estrons, Boy Azooga).
